Review: Rebel Allies by Pittacus Lore (Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files #10-12)

rebel alliesThe perfect companion book to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series!

I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Rebel Allies is a collection of three thrilling stories by Pittacus Lore. Originally published as the e-novellasThe Fugitive, The Navigator, and The Guard, now, for the first time ever, they are together in one print volume.

You know the truth about the Mogadorians’ invasion of Earth and the Garde who will do anything to defeat them—yet there is still so much to learn. The stories in Rebel Allies will help you get the answers you seek, but they will not help you stop the coming war. Only the Garde can save our planet. But they are not alone. . . .

Like the other Lost Files, Rebel Allies fills in gaps and introduces new characters. If you haven’t been reading the novellas, you’re really missing out.

The Fugitive picks up Mark’s storyline from where it left off in Return to Paradise. You get his perspective on events that we have only seen through the eyes of the Garde; it was interesting to get a civilian’s perspective. You begin to feel a certain degree of fondness for this stupidly brave teenager who wants to save his ex-girlfriend and inform the world, even if it means facing off against Mogs and FBI agents along the way.

The Navigator returns to the world of Lorien that we visited in The Last Days of Lorien with Sandor, Nine’s Cepan. It’s a different, much more cynical viewpoint that highlights the flaws in their society. This story gathers up many loose ends including the truth behind the second ship leaving Lorien and provides some much needed explanations.

Finally, The Guard connects stories one and two together and leaves off where The Fate of Ten begins chronologically, effectively tying everything together. It provides the final part of Mark’s story and sets up much of the framework for The Fate of Ten. I can’t wait to meet up with these characters soon and see how they’ll work together with the Garde.

If you haven’t read this series yet you should!
